Here’s the Skinny on the Canadian Upfronts

Another season of programming meetings in Toronto has been delivered, and as Canadians, we're pretty proud to be working closer than ever with the country's major content providers. Believers in the power of television and radio to drive business, it's a highlight to spend a week with partners equally committed to growing and engaging audiences across the country with entertaining content.

As we get started on building out broadcast-digital ecosystems for the year ahead, here's what we're most excited to see coming down the Canadian broadcast pipe come Fall 2016:

Corus/Global:

- Launch of live entertainment extension Corus Live (with national and community reach!)

- Daring new shows Pitch, MacGyver, Bull, and The Great Indoors

- Returning perennial favourites Survivor and the NCIS franchise and extending the successful The Blacklist: Redemption

Rogers/City:

- Launch of Hopefully Hilarious Sunday nights with VICE's hotly anticipated Nirvana The Band The Series, and Jason Sudeikis' live-action/animated comedy Son of Zorn

- Bringing back and extending well-known brands and prime-time specials Prison Break, Lethal Weapon, 24: Legacy, and Rocky Horror Picture Show

Bell/CTV:

- Launch of short-form video app Snackable TV, Keifer Sutherland's Designated Survivor, dramedy series Russell Peters is the Indian Detective, iHeartRadio collaboration with the MuchMusic Video Awards

- After 43 years, the final curtain has come down on Canada AM to make room for Ben Mulroney and Melissa Grelo's Your Morning

All things considered, there is something we believe in more than television, and it is not the disruptive force of digital. Rather, it is the disruptive force of anchoring digital with television and radio initiatives.
